for bassoon, violoncello and piano (2026)

Controlledly burning a part of the vegetation of a degraded ecosystem aiming to reestablish its ecological balance (“cultural burning” or “debbio” in Italian) is a practice commonly employed by different peoples throughout the globe.
If what we know as “culture” bears the sign of that primogenial land where a first crop was once sown, are we living in a time where this field needs to be set on fire, hoping to allow new life?
For writing this piece, I had to burn parts of myself.
Some seeds are actually awakened by flames.
